Want to class up your coffee table? Well you’re in luck, The new Gisele book is now available to the masses. Who’s Gisele? Well if you’re asking that question you’ve probably been living under a rock. In 1998 at just 18 years old, Gisele graced the runway for the legendary fashion designer, Alexander McQueen. Nicknamed “The Body” for her ability to walk in towering heels on a slick runway with complete ease and grace, she is the epitome of a personal brand.
Within a year Giselle was one of the most in-demand cover girls. With her bronzed skin, athletic body and towering six foot frame, every body wanted her. Photographer Steven Meisel deemed Gisele as “the return of the sexy model” helping squash the trend of late-’90s grunge and unattractive appeal. Appearing on more than a thousand covers around the globe,Gisele has solidified herself as a personal brand and empire.
Last fall Gisele launched her highly anticipated coffee table book, Gisele, which sold out before it even hit bookshelves, similar to the Micheal Dweck book. Only 1,000 copies were printed, and each sold for $700-$1200. The coffee-table book chronicles her 20-year fashion career with a breathtaking 536-page image collection that showcases 300 images, captured by top photographers like: Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh, David LaChapelle and Juergen Teller. The book celebrates Gisele and shows why she is one of the greatest models of our time.
First published as a high-end limited edition, a more budget-friendly version called the “popular edition” was released by Taschen for $69.99. All proceeds for the book go to charity.
