I will admit, when it comes to tea, I’m what most would call a hoarder. I have an entire cabinet in my kitchen devoted to my beloved teas. It is one of my most sacred of rituals; enjoying a warm cup of tea. At any given time I likely have over 35 different teas in said cabinet, and don’t be surprised to find me at the local tea shop in Franklin, or online – buying more tea.
Herbal tea not only benefits our health, but helps us stay hydrated. And in my case, keeps me warm. And while I am a huge advocate of using what you got – reuse, repurpose, recycle, I have a tendency to throw caution to the wind when it comes to collecting more tea. Like The Cars say, It’s just what I needed!
Over the years I’ve enjoyed many cups of warm tea. When I was in college, and poor, I would heat up good ol’ lipton tea. Luckily, I can now savor the finer things in life, and enjoy Organic tea with real flavor. Here are my top 7 winter teas that everyone should try.
Your Tea – Tiny TeaTox ~ Their mantra pretty much sums it up, “Eating well, living calmly, active lifestyle, laughing often and loving always – assists the body in functioning to the best of its ability on a day-to-day basis. Be proactive about your health, so you don’t have to be reactive about health problems.” @yourtea is an all natural tea blend that boosts your natural energy levels and improves digestion.
Nancy Boy – Darjeeling ~Two years ago I went to San Francisco to see my college friends and hang out. My girlfriend made me a cup of tea that changed my life! Called the Champagne of teas, this stuff is liquid Gold!
Rishi – Peach Nectar ~ maker of Organic and Fair Trade Certified teas, this peach nectar blows me away. It’s delicious cold or hot, but I almost always drink it hot.
Positiffitea- BumbleBee White ~ If the name alone doesn’t get you, the amazing flavors will. Their website is crap, but then again it’s all about being Positiffitea!
Touch Organic – Gunpowder – Unlike it’s name, it’s actually quite light. But it’s named after it’s shape that helps it stay fresher longer.
Swanson –Organic White tea ~ Organic tea, known as the Scholars tea, comes all the way from China to fill you up with a light warmth. Excellent for a cold January kinda day.
Organic India – Ginger Tea Has a kick to it, but having ginger tea in the cabinet is always a good idea. Lori Jacobs, Naturopath, taught me the healing benefits of ginger, especially when a cold starts to hit, or nausea.
