Everyone desires to have a home with style. It is a pre-requisite to a well lived life. But too often homeowners feel like their homes have to look a “certain” way. Trying hard to fit into a mold that may or may not fit them, desperately trying to make things work, and alas, they fail. One of my favorite quotes of all time is: “Everyone is a genius, but judge a fish on it’s ability to climb a tree and it will spend it’s entire life thinking it’s stupid!” ~Albert Einstein. Just like this quote implies, we all have the ability to design our homes. We all know what we like, and if nothing else we definitely know what we don’t like. And if you have taken one of my design classes, I repeat that over, and over again. Style is not about what your next door neighbor has.  Style is about surrounding yourself with items that lift your mood. Another one of my favorite quotes, “Start with your inner truth, follow it, and the rest will work itself out.” ~Eckhart Tolle. Same goes with your home.  When you surround yourself with the things that are most important to you, your home literally supports and inspires you!   Style is glamourous and synonymous with YOUR definition of comfort; not Suzy’s from the furniture store, or Beth’s from across the street. STYLE is all about you!

Love, love, love that. And it is true. Style is like charisma. You are attracted to it, it is fun, enjoyable and it makes your heart skip a beat. And don’t we all want our interiors to feel that way too? Um, Yes please!

So what ever your style, funky, eclectic, traditional or contemporary, stick to your gut. Stick with what is true to you! Style is not about what others deem is stylish for you, style is following your inner truths, and allowing the interiors to follow. That is a stylish home!
