Intro To Color
How To Choose Color With Confidence
For many homeowners there is a huge fear of choosing a color palette for their home. Typically, young homeowners run to the paint store, grab random chips and throw it up on the wall, then they are perplexed as to why it looks bad. Older homeowners, the ones who’ve ‘been there and done that’, know better than to run to the paint store. They play it safe by choosing a good ol’ builder beige for their home. And while that’s nice and safe, it’s not always the most exciting!
Choosing color takes calculated risk. You have to have a plan and know where you are going. Just like a road trip with a loose itinerary, there’s typically a plan in place to get to where you are going. Color is not scary. It’s poor choices mixed with bad decisions, that make for poor results. So running to the paint store one room at a time, without some sort of plan, is not always the best plan of action.
Colors are categorized as warm or cool and when mixed with black, white or grey they take on different personalities. This is nothing to be feared, once you have the tools to understand them you’ll have the skill to choose color with confidence. Want to learn how to choose the best paint color for your home?
