Happy New Year!
January 2020 marks the dawn of a new decade, something we haven’t seen since 2010. Now think back to where you were in 2010. Who were you, what were you doing, more importantly, how have you changed?
In 2010 my life imploded. If you know anything about Tarot oracle cards, 2010 was defined by The Tower, The Devil and Death. Good God! And that’s pretty much what I experienced. It was a year of hell.
- I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, scheduled surgery in December 2009, and spent January 2010 recovering from major operation
- I discovered my husband’s affair THE NIGHT of our 10 year anniversary,
- I moved three times
- I lost my business, formerly known as AB HOME Interiors
- I filed for divorce
- I sold everything I owned
And just when I thought I couldn’t handle any more balls being thrown at me, something else would blow up in my face. Until it FINALLY leveled out.
Fast forward nine years later. Life is fantastic, I’m in a loving relationship and life is grand. So January 1st, 2018 I decide to go to Kripalu, in the Berkshires, for Ruby Warrington’s Nu Year kick off. While there, I decide to see the house oracle (psychic) and guess what I freaking got? You guessed it:
The Tower, The Devil and Death.
Oh God, I thought. Here we go again….
It was almost as if the Universe said, “Ummm, you totally failed at this the first time so we’re going to give you a do over. But unlike the first time around, things were different. My Chi was highly cultivated, my perspective had changed about life, and I knew a higher purpose existed. Rather than going into it with the attitude of, “why is this happening to me?” my perspective was, “what am I learning this time around?”
Don’t get me wrong; the last six months of 2018 were a complete shit show for me, but I wasn’t stressed. In fact, during the thick of this explosion I did six on camera interviews, and ten podcasts, and the Gates team swears they are some of the best interviews I’ve ever done. I was calm, focused and unphased by the tornados swirling around me. If anything, I’ve learned that no matter what, the sun still rises and sets and your anxiety or fear does nothing for the situation, but what you can control is YOUR CHI, and it’s the difference of feeling sane or overwhelmed.
Wow, look how much I’ve grown! It only took me forty years to figure that out.
- Who were you?
- What were you doing?
- How have you grown?
Take stock in how much you’ve grown in the last decade because that person ten years ago probably doesn’t exist anymore. Pat yourself on the back for all your accomplishments – big and small. And be grateful for all that is to come.
Not only do we have a clean slate for the year, but a clean slate for a new decade. Who do you want to be in ten years? What do you hope to accomplish? I don’t know about you, but I am proud of who I’ve become over the last decade and I cannot wait to discover who I’ll become in the next ten!
Curious about what’s ahead? Well, don’t be surprised if it holds a bit of the Tower, Death and the Devil for you. The coming year is meant to shake things up – and that’s exactly why I invited Tisha Morris and Rachel Lang back on the Podcast to talk about it. But don’t get stressed out. You have all the tools you need to navigate the challenging waters ahead with ease and grace because unlike most, you know how to cultivate your Chi. So keep up the good work!
Happy New Year!
