Elizabeth hard at work

We have been in over drive here at the office lately (doing important designer things) and today was no different. Frantically running around like crazy chickens, it occured to me that I didn’t finish my blog post, scheduled for tomorrow. (which is now today) Holy crap!  How on earth will I get it done? Insert Elizabeth, my wonder woman side kick, who came to my rescue and researched all the photos so that I could bring you a kick ass post today. And might I add she did this all while multi-tasking like a design ninja samarai! Isn’t she awesome?

Empty space

We have all seen this room. Boring, lifeless and in need of a lot of help. Luckly, an empty space is a blank canvas that allows you free reign and endless possibilities to create art within four walls. A designers dream to me can seem a boring, lifeless room to others, that’s overwhelming. But with a little creativity, and design inspiration this room can come to life, and be the favored room of the house!

Rug tiles from flor

I wanted this room to have a tradtional feel but with a modern twist. So I would start with ripping out the existing carpet (it’s gro-dy) and put down reclamined hardwood floors. Then with these uber stylish suzani floor tiles by flor, (shown above) I would create a beautiful 8×11 area rug. It adds a great punch of color, pattern and helps ground this space. At $24.99 per tile, you can get a stylish rug thats easy to care for, at a great price.

Lee industries chair

Two LEE Industries chairs upholstered in a charcoal gray fabric, creates a small seating area great for intimate conversations with friends, and is ideal for late night reading alone in front of the fire. My goal here was to create an unconventional furniture arrangement. It’s unexpected and adds an element of surprise and drama.

Lee Industries daybed

In keeping with our unconventional furniture arrangement, a Lee Industries daybed adds additional seating for entertaining, added drama, but keeps the room comfortable and approachable.

Arteriors floor lamp

Rooms always need a nice tug and pull with comfort and glamour. This floor lamp from arteriors adds sparkle, in an unpredictable shape.

All modern cocktail table

A fun and unusual cocktail table, with an expected shape in an unusaul finish, adds playful surprise in our room.

Arteriors table lamp

The perfect pop of texture for our room, these lamps by arteriors will add some serious eyecandy, which is perfect for our mid-century console.

The velvet branch console

Any space done by me will always have a throwback to mid-century furniture. It is a time when furniture was made with care, and stylish shapes were of uttmost importance. Mass production was over shadowed by craftsmanship, and quality was better than quantity. This peice will add a secondary focal point in our room, and give us a great place for added storage and light.

Wisteria mirror

Scalloped mirror from wisteria for above the fireplace.

Crate and barrel print

Beautiful architectural prints for the side of the firplace.

Benjamin Grant beige

Grant beige for the fireplace brick.

Benjamin moore super white

Benjamin Moore Super white for the Wall color.
