I go into a lot of homes where the kitchens have no back splash. Often, homeowners run out of steam when it gets down to those final details and it’s the old adage, “well we can do that once we move in…we will have plenty of time to get it done later..” But then later turns into five years and you still don’t have a backsplash.

A kitchen backsplash is an opportunity to really personalize your kitchen and add some character. And it is always easier to clean tile than it is to clean drywall. Here are two examples of kitchen  back splashes I have recently done, and great examples of what a difference one can make when compared to the alternative.

1) Updated kitchen

After remodel and NEW back splash

This kitchen is inside of a small condo. I used crisp white cabinets, simple black granite and a show stopping red glass tile to make it extra special. The homeowner was terrified to make the leap into such a bold tile but this turned out to be one of the best and most talked about features in the entire condo.

2) Back splash update

A beautiful pinwheel onyx in forest multi adds depth and pattern to this kitchen, updating and customizing the over all look. Now instead of a boring drywall, this kitchen now has great color and style.

Get creative with your back splash and treat it like jewelry for the kitchen. It is a great way to add personality, sparkle, and customization to the favorite hub of the house, and as you can see, it makes a big difference in the overall look!
